Podcast Episode 4: Rob Thomson talks library technicians, library tours and just turning up!

In episode 4, we talk to Rob Thomson, Teacher-In-Charge, Library and Information Services, TAFE NSW about the role of library technicians, Rob’s passion for library tours and library spaces, and how important it is to just turn up!

Career advice and artwork by Rob Thomson! Here are things we discussed in the episode:
After we recorded the episode we asked Rob to provide his Top 5 Libraries:
Overseas: (while it would be easy to go for DOKK1, Black Diamond, Library of Congress, British Library, Bibliotheque de France and such like I have gone slightly off-piste with these. Sadly I have only visited Kanazawa’ Umimirai Library but…)
1. The Gladstone Library (because who doesn’t want to sleep over in a library!)
5. Fort Vancouver Regional Library (mainly for the kid’s floor!)
Australia: (Again going slightly outside of the normal contenders)
2. Ulladulla Library (simply because of where it’s located!)

  1. The link to Double Bay Library wasn’t working for me, but perhaps you might like to include this one, recently in Architecture Au. https://architectureau.com/articles/woollahra-library/?utm_source=ArchitectureAU&utm_campaign=9ec501b5e5-AAU_2017_11_21&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e3604e2a4a-9ec501b5e5-41223525&mc_cid=9ec501b5e5&mc_eid=0a45f2b08d
If anyone wants to visit, find me, I’m the Senior Library Officer there and usually around on the public floor of the library. Share a shandy with me next door at the Sheaf, and I’ll answer questions as best I can.
    Great episode people.
